Help
You aren’t alone in your statistics and R programming journey. Make use of the resources and experiences of those around you.
Tips
- Expect confusion — it’s normal — time spent confused is still time learning
- Practice regularly, even in short sessions — learning takes consistent effort
- Understanding builds gradually, not overnight — cramming will not work in this course!
- Share your knowledge (but don’t give away answers) — the act of teaching others can reinforce your own understanding.
- Ask for help early — participate and contribute in lectures, tutorials, consultation hours, discussion board — the teaching team is to here to help you learn!
If your issue is in coding, it often helps to present your problem with a minimally reproducible example (show your full code so that we can run it ourselves, details about your operating system, what was the error message?, etc). Provide us the details so that we can help you! Read more here.
Discussion forum
We encourage you to use the discussion forum on Canvas to ask questions, share resources or tips, and connect with your peers.
Consultation hours
We have consultation hours available for you to ask questions and get help with your R programming journey. See Canvas for time and locations. If you’re struggling, come talk to us. Don’t leave it late!
Reporting mistakes
Did you find mistakes (or potential mistakes) in the teaching material? Please do let the teaching team know by either posting on the discussion board or emailing emi.tanaka@anu.edu.au.
